How to cure cystitis? We try to find out what are the most suitable symptoms, causes and therapies to combat this annoying bladder mucosa infection.

We are often asked how to treat cystitis: before answering this question it is essential to understand what this pathology is affectively. The term cystitis identifies inflammation (inflammation) of the urinary bladder, or the organ that collects the urine produced by the kidneys. But what about cystitis are the most frequent causes?

In most cases this condition is of bacterial origin: generated by Escherichia coli. Cystitis can occur in both sexes, however, it tends to occur more frequently in the female population. This happens, because in women, the urethra is much shorter than that of humans, making it easier for bacteria to pass to the bladder.

However, this inflammatory disorder can also occur as a reaction to radiotherapy or be caused by chemicals contained in some products, such as spermicidal gels or sprays used for feminine hygiene.

It is important to point out that cystitis is not a disease that is transmitted sexually, nevertheless, sexual relations increase the chances of contracting it.

Cystitis most frequent symptoms

The symptoms of cystitis are similar in both sexes. Usually, cystitis manifests itself with the frequent need to urinate, even when the bladder has not had enough time to fill up. However, the burning sensation perceived during urination is also a symptom of an ongoing urinary infection.

Normally, in these circumstances, the urine is cloudy, characterized by an extremely sharp and acrid smell and may contain traces of blood (hematuria). Furthermore, cystitis can cause fever, chills, widespread malaise, fatigue, pain and cramps in the lower back and lower back.

How to cure cystitis effectively

In case of cystitis what to do? For cystitis the most effective treatment is antibiotic treatment, which must always be taken on prescription. In case of not too acute inflammation, there is an improvement of symptoms already at the beginning of the treatment. However, it is essential to complete the entire course of therapy established by the specialist, in order to definitively eradicate this condition, avoiding that it spreads to the level of the kidneys, significantly worsening the clinical picture.

Cystitis drugs must be chosen based on the characteristics of the person concerned and sometimes it is not always easy to understand how to treat cystitis at its best. In the event that a fever occurs it is important to take antipyretic drugs, while in the case of recurrent cystitis it is essential to also consider preventive treatments based on probiotic and cranberry extract, so as not to have to resort too often to antibiotics.

For less severe interstitial cystitis it may be thought not to intervene in any way, leaving the immune system to act. However, it can be useful to drink a lot of water, as it allows you to clean the infected urinary tract, but also to apply hot packs.

It is not recommended, instead, to take foods that can irritate the bladder, ie spices, alcohol, tea and coffee.
